Not All Medical Spas are Created Equal for Skin Of Color
What is Fitzpatrick Skin Typing?
The Fitzpatrick scale (also Fitzpatrick skin typing test; or Fitzpatrick phototyping scale) is a numerical classification schema for human skin color. It was developed in 1975 by Thomas B. Fitzpatrick to estimate the response of different types of skin to ultraviolet (UV) light.
In medical aesthetics, we use this scale to help us develop the right treatment plan and parameters on our laser/light devices to yield optimum results while minimizing the side-effects for higher Fitzpatrick skin types (skin of color).
